The Mount Pearl City Council approved funding on February 24, 2026, to upgrade three playgrounds in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador. This project will bring new equipment and safer ground surfaces to local parks as part of a larger plan to improve public spaces for families.
The city is using part of a $565,000 investment from the 2026 budget—allocated for trail enhancements, playground renewals, and arena accessibility—to pay for these improvements. Branscombe Pond has been named as the first site to get the upgrades, while the names of the other two parks will be shared by the city in the coming weeks.
These upgrades are part of the city’s first Community Safety and Well-Being Plan, which was released in early February 2026. This plan focuses on keeping public spaces well-maintained and inclusive to help make neighbourhoods feel safer and more welcoming for residents.
Work is expected to begin in the spring of 2026. Families and nearby homeowners should look for updates on the city’s Facebook page and check the construction notices section of the city website for information on temporary park closures.
