Mount Pearl City Council is moving forward with plans for a new water storage tank at 7 Tavenor Place, a project the city says is necessary to support future development. A public briefing is set for April 22, 2026, where officials will provide information on the proposal and gather input from the community.
The proposed water tower is to be located approximately 350 metres east of the Tavenor Place cul-de-sac. Because the site is within an area designated as Open Space, the project is classified as a discretionary civic use. Under city rules, this designation requires a public notice and a briefing before the council can grant permission for the development.
Mayor Dave Aker has previously identified the water tower as a key component of the city’s 2026 infrastructure strategy. The project is part of a larger $62.6 million budget aimed at addressing growth while maintaining current municipal services.
Residents who wish to provide feedback on the proposal can submit written comments to the City of Mount Pearl Planning and Development Department. All written submissions must be received no later than noon on Friday, April 17, 2026, to be included in the public record.
