Archers in Rimbey, Alberta now have a regular place to hone their skills as the Rimbey Fish & Game Association kicks off weekly 3D archery practice shoots for 2026. The evening sessions happen at the group’s new Lodge property south of town, using an outdoor course built by volunteers last summer.
The association says the weekly shoots are open to all skill levels, offering a laid-back way for residents to try the sport or stay sharp. Membership discounts apply, with youth memberships at $25, standard at $60, and family at $80. The program started as test nights in 2025 and now becomes a regular fixture.
“We would like to extend a big thank you to the amazing volunteers that donated countless hours to set up our brand new outdoor 3D archery course this past summer,” the association posted. “The weekly practice night shoots were a great way to start and we appreciate who attended. We look forward to growing the attendance and events in 2026.”
The non-profit group, which is affiliated with the Alberta Wildlife Federation, bought part of the old Rimbey Golf Course land in 2020. Since then, members have cleared trees, built roads, and constructed the new lodge that now hosts archery along with monthly meetings and community functions.
Alongside the weekly shoots, the association runs other outdoors events like the annual Coyote Derby and archery awards at its banquet. It also signed a 10-year deal in 2024 to host the Oilman’s Shootout, an event billed as Canada’s largest outdoor shoot that draws 500 to 800 archers.
