The Saanich Peninsula Lions Food Bank is opening registration for its annual Easter food hampers from March 16 to March 27, 2026, in Sidney, British Columbia. This program helps families and individuals living on the Saanich Peninsula who are facing financial hardship enjoy a traditional holiday meal.
Residents living north of Sayward Road must register for the holiday packages in person at 9586 Fifth Street. To sign up, people need to bring a photo ID for all adults in the home, proof of their address, and Care Cards for all family members or dependents.
The food bank, which is supported by the Sidney Lions Club, currently serves about 500 families every month. This is a 20 percent increase in demand compared to last year, with more young families and seniors needing help since 2020.
Operating since 1984, the organization receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations from the community. Each holiday hamper is designed to provide enough food to supplement a household’s needs for seven to 10 days.
Registration takes place during regular morning hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Saanich Peninsula Lions Food Bank also offers extra produce for registered clients on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the same morning timeframe.
