The Canadian Federation of University Women Saanich Peninsula will host its annual book sale on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney, British Columbia. The event runs from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm, with all proceeds directly supporting scholarships and educational opportunities for young women in the local community.
Every dollar raised during the sale will benefit the organization’s Education Trust Fund. These funds provide annual scholarships to young women at the four high schools in School District #63, which include Parkland, Stelly’s, Claremont, and the Individual Learning Centre. The money also supports awards for female students attending the University of Victoria and Camosun College.
Because the Saanich Peninsula Community Foundation provides a grant to cover the operating costs of the book sale, 100 percent of the money collected from purchases goes toward student support. Organizers are currently accepting donations of fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books in good condition that have been published within the last seven years. Popular book series by authors like John Grisham, Michael Connelly, and David Baldacci are accepted if published within the last 10 years.
Residents who wish to donate books can arrange drop-offs by calling the following local numbers: 250-656-6857 for North Saanich, 250-361-8356 for Sidney, or 250-652-5855 for Brentwood Bay. Founded in 1995, the local chapter remains dedicated to promoting education and rights for women and girls.
