According to Environment Canada, Monday brings a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 25 and a UV index of 8, described as very high. The warmth continues Tuesday and Wednesday, with Tuesday mainly sunny and Wednesday sunny, both reaching highs of 25. Tuesday’s UV index reaches 9, also very high. Overnight lows will dip to a comfortable 13 to 15 degrees, and afternoon haze is expected to develop late Monday afternoon and persist through Tuesday morning and early afternoon.
HealthLink BC advises that when the UV index hits the 8 to 10 range, exposure is very high. They recommend limiting time outdoors between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., wearing protective clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, and UV-blocking sunglasses. Anyone spending time outside should also seek shade and apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 30 on any bare skin.
The sunny forecast is typical for July on southern Vancouver Island, the region’s driest and warmest month.
