The Town of Sidney, British Columbia, has confirmed its 2026 property tax rates following the approval of the annual budget earlier this month. Alongside the new rates, the town is highlighting its online payment portal to help residents manage their accounts. This update provides homeowners with a clear look at their obligations and a convenient way to pay their bills before the summer deadline.
For the 2026 tax year, the town has approved a property tax increase of approximately 9.37 per cent to support municipal services and infrastructure. Residents should look for their official tax notices to arrive in the mail in the middle of May, with the final payment due by the first business day of July—Thursday, July 2, 2026.
To streamline the payment process, the town encourages property owners to use its online portal to manage and submit payments electronically. The specific tax amounts for each property are calculated using the town’s yearly budget requirements and the property values determined by BC Assessment.
While municipal payments are handled by the town, residents who wish to apply for the Home Owner Grant or the provincial tax deferment program must do so directly through the Province of British Columbia. The Sidney town office no longer processes these provincial applications, which must now be completed using the provincial government’s online tools.
