A strong wind warning is already in effect for Haro Strait, where wind speeds are expected to reach between 20 and 33 knots. For residents and visitors near Port Sidney Marina, the forecast shows winds increasing from the southeast to 20-30 knots on Tuesday morning, before shifting to the southwest by the evening with speeds remaining up to 30 knots. Nearby waters in the Strait of Georgia may experience southerly gales as the system moves toward Cape Scott.
While the most extreme conditions are forecast for the open coast, officials note that conditions in the Strait of Georgia and Haro Strait can change quickly.
