The Oneida Nation of the Thames, located in Southwold near St. Thomas, is hosting a two-day Elders Gathering on March 11 and March 12, 2026. The event, held at the Best Western Stoneridge Inn, aims to provide local seniors with health services and cultural activities in a centralized location.
The gathering runs from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm each day and follows a Day of Healing and Teachings held on March 10, 2026. On March 11, the community’s Weekly Seniors Circle, typically held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, will coincide with the gathering’s first day.
During the week, Nurse Practitioner Andrew Ferguson from the Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre (SOAHAC) will be available for meet-and-greet sessions on March 10 at the Oneida Health Centre. Additionally, the Home and Community Care program will offer health checks, including blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring, throughout the event.
The gathering allows elders to access wellness checks and benefit information in one venue, with Medical Transportation available to ensure community members can travel safely to and from the sessions.
