The St. Thomas Police Service has confirmed that a body discovered in the water at Waterworks Park on April 3, 2026, is that of 50-year-old Ruhirwa Nzabonimpa. Mr. Nzabonimpa had been reported missing since November 18, 2025.
The discovery brings an end to a search that spanned four and a half months. Mr. Nzabonimpa was last seen around 3:00 a.m. on November 18, 2025, in the Rice Road area of St. Thomas, Ontario.
Following his disappearance, an extensive search of the Dalewood Conservation Area was conducted by local police and volunteer search and rescue organizations. That effort included support from the Ontario Provincial Police, who deployed dive teams to assist with the investigation.
Waterworks Park, located near Balaclava Street and South Edgeware Road, served as the site where the body was recovered. Police have stated that the death is not believed to be suspicious and no foul play is suspected.
