The Town of Ste. Anne is now accepting registrations from residents who want to put their name forward for the October 28 municipal election. Prospective mayoral candidates could begin filing paperwork on May 1, while those hoping to serve as a councillor can register starting June 30. Both deadlines close on September 22.
Registration takes place at the Town office at 14 Centrale Avenue during regular business hours. Senior Election Official Rebekah Stelmack is handling the process and can be reached at 204.422.5293 for anyone with questions or to get a registration form.

To be eligible, a candidate must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old on election day, and have been a voter in Ste. Anne for at least six months before October 28, meaning they had to qualify by April 28. They also need nomination papers signed by at least 25 eligible voters in town.
The current council was elected in 2022, when Mayor Yvan St. Vincent was acclaimed without a challenger and five candidates competed for four councillor seats. With Ste. Anne’s population jumping nearly 37 percent between 2016 and 2021 to 2,891 residents, interest in guiding local growth could bring fresh faces to the council table.
Elected candidates will serve a four-year term that officially begins at noon the day after the election and must file finance statements by May 26, 2027.
