The Town of Stonewall, Manitoba, and Winnipeg-based Whiteland Real Estate have announced a 50-acre project on the eastern border of the community that will include both businesses and homes. Known as the Quarry District, the development is designed to bring a new grocery store and more housing options to the area.
The first part of the work involves a $40-million investment to build about 44,000 square feet of space for businesses. This section of the project will feature a 26,500-square-foot Red River Co-op grocery store to help serve the community.
Plans for the district also include the potential for up to 500 new homes for local residents. Mayor Sandra Smith said the project will provide important upgrades for water, sewer, and drainage systems that will help support a nearby campus where seniors can live as they age.
Work on the business portion of the property is expected to begin as early as spring 2026. Local officials say the project is a major step in strengthening the local economy and improving the town for its residents.
