The Town of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, will mail combined assessment and tax notices to property owners on May 22, 2026. This notice tells residents how much they owe for the year and when the money must be paid to avoid extra costs for their homes or businesses.
Property taxes are due by 11:59 PM on July 31, 2026. If a balance is not paid by this time, a 7 per cent penalty will be added on August 1, 2026, followed by another 7 per cent penalty on September 1, 2026.
For any taxes that remain unpaid by the start of the next year, a final 14 per cent penalty will be added on January 1, 2027. Residents who want to pay their taxes in monthly instalments instead of one large sum have until June 15, 2026, to sign up for the town payment plan.
These tax payments help fund local services and a $20.8 million capital budget that the town approved in late 2025. A public open house for the draft budget will take place on March 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the NexSource Centre, according to Engage Sylvan Lake.
