The 7th Annual May Long Weekend Food Drive in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, successfully raised over $2,000 for the Sylvan Lake Food Bank this past May 18, 2026. Organized by the Owen Hart Foundation, the event brought the local community together to collect food and monetary donations to support residents facing food insecurity.
A significant portion of the fundraising efforts came through the Sylvan Lake Golf & Country Club, which matched the funds contributed by the Senior Men’s Golf Group. This initiative was led by Greg Davidson. Food items were collected during the event at the Marina Bay Club House.
The foundation is continuing to accept donations for the food bank until Monday, May 25, 2026. Residents who would like to contribute can make donations online through CanadaHelps, where tax receipts are provided for all monetary gifts.
The Owen Hart Foundation was established in December 2000 by Dr. Martha Hart in memory of her husband, Owen Hart. The foundation, which has distributed approximately $5 million in contributions through its various programs, continues to focus on supporting the community through efforts like this annual drive for the local food bank.
