Baseball fans in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, are in for a unique experience this Thursday, July 16, 2026, as the Sylvan Lake Gulls host their first-ever Toga Party at Gulls Field. The team is encouraging everyone to bring their own sheets and dress in togas for the game, part of a season of community-focused theme nights.
The Toga Party theme was promoted by the Gulls on social media earlier this week. “BYOS” — Bring Your Own Sheet — is the call to action for fans heading to the ballpark at Pogadl Park. The theme is a new addition to the team’s 2026 promotional schedule, which also includes a Hawaiian Luau night on July 25.
The Gulls, who play in the Western Canadian Baseball League, are coming off a win over the Weyburn Beavers on July 2. That victory improved their record to 17-8, good for third place in the West Division, just two games back of first-place Lethbridge. Every Gulls win this season also means a $50 donation from the Coop to the Gulls Give Foundation, the team’s charitable arm focused on mental health and wellness programs for vulnerable residents in Central Alberta.
Gulls Field can hold about 1,784 fans with its mix of seats and berms. The team, founded in 2021, has built a reputation for community engagement through events like this. The Toga Party is the latest in a series of theme nights designed to make games more fun and bring neighbours together.
