The Kings Playhouse in the Town of Three Rivers is set to host a new recurring summer concert series that highlights Canadian musical heritage. Titled A Secret Chord: The Essential Canadian Songbook, the production will take place every Tuesday from June 9 through September 29, 2026.
Located at 65 Grafton Street in Georgetown, the venue is recognized as Canada’s longest-running theatre, with a history dating back to 1897. The theatre serves as the largest cultural organization east of Charlottetown, operating within the municipality of Three Rivers.
The upcoming series features a cast of five musicians from Prince Edward Island: Lawrence Maxwell, Todd MacLean, Brooke MacArthur, Luka Hall, and Deryl Gallant. These performers will share songs and stories representing music from across the country.
Tickets for the performances are priced between $25 and $30. Interested residents can sign up for the theatre’s mailing list to gain early access to tickets starting April 15, 2026.
The historic building, originally designed by architect William Critchlow Harris, remains a focal point for the community. Following a fire in 1983, local residents rallied to rebuild the theatre, which reopened in 1984. In 2009, the facility underwent significant upgrades with over $635,000 in support from the Government of Canada, the Province of Prince Edward Island, and the Town of Georgetown to improve accessibility and equipment.
