The Town of Three Rivers recently announced that three local organizations have been named finalists for the Community Impact Award, a recognition presented by the Eastern PEI Chamber of Commerce. The town officials highlighted these groups as vital contributors to the region, with the final winner set to be announced during the 20th annual business and community awards ceremony on May 7, 2026, at the Rodd Brudenell River Resort.
The three organizations selected as finalists for the award are the TCAP Family Aquatics and Fitness Center, the Southern Kings and Queens Food Bank, and Transportation East. Each group provides essential services to residents across the region.
Located at 55 Wood Islands Road in Montague, the TCAP Family Aquatics and Fitness Center serves as the only indoor pool facility in eastern Prince Edward Island. The center recently reopened in February 2026 following a period of maintenance to address equipment and structural repairs.
The Southern Kings and Queens Food Bank, also known as the Montague Food Bank, continues to support local households by providing food assistance. The charity typically serves nearly 190 families each month, with demand increasing to approximately 325 families during the holiday seasons.
Rounding out the finalists is Transportation East, a service that offers accessible travel for residents in Kings County. The organization uses wheelchair-accessible vehicles to assist seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income residents with needs such as non-emergency medical transportation and travel to community events.
