The Blackfalds Bulldogs successfully avoided elimination on Friday, April 10, 2026, by shutting out the Sherwood Park Crusaders 4-0 in Game 5 of their playoff series at the Eagle Builders Centre in Blackfalds, Alberta.
The win brings the Bulldogs to a 3-2 deficit in the best-of-seven series.
Forward Nicholas DiPaolo provided an early spark for the Bulldogs, scoring twice against his former club within the first two minutes of the opening period. Nikita Ivashchenko added to the lead by scoring two goals on the power play in the second and third periods. The Bulldogs’ power play unit proved effective, converting on two of five opportunities after struggling to find the net on man-advantages earlier in the series.
Goaltender Olivér Király anchored the defensive effort, stopping all 17 shots he faced to earn his second shutout of the series and first star honours. The Bulldogs outshot the Crusaders 24-17 overall, while holding their opponents scoreless on four power play attempts.
