The Government of Nunavut is currently recruiting for a full-time District Comptroller to work with the Nunavut Housing Corporation in Arviat. This permanent role offers residents an opportunity to manage financial operations and support housing services in the community.
The person in this position will work as part of the management team at the district office, where they will provide financial support and help monitor local housing organizations. These community-based groups are responsible for managing public housing units across the territory. The corporation, established in 2000, oversees these units to help provide access to housing across 25 different communities.
Arviat, which is the third-largest community in Nunavut with a population of 2,864 according to the 2021 census, has become a key location for housing development. The territory is currently addressing a housing crisis. In addition to administrative roles, the community is seeing new industrial growth, including a modular housing factory currently in operation that is expected to create 40 jobs for local workers.
For those interested in the District Comptroller role, the regional office in Arviat can be reached at 867-857-3150 or by mail at P.O. Box 540, Arviat, NU X0C 0E0. This position is part of an ongoing effort to increase local employment, a goal that is already strong in the Kivalliq region where 69 percent of government positions are held by Inuit.
