The Blackfalds Bulldogs have added another piece to their blue line for the 2026-2027 season, signing 18-year-old defenceman Colton Whiterabbit from Mahtomedi, Minnesota.
Whiterabbit, who stands six-foot-four and weighs 195 pounds, brings size and a strong two-way game after a standout season with Chisago Lakes High School. In 28 games, he recorded 8 goals and 32 assists for 40 points.
Director of Player Personnel Al Parada said the team is excited about what Whiterabbit can bring. “Colton is a big body who can really skate and has good size,” Parada said in the announcement. “He plays a 200-foot game and has very good puck skills, defends very well, and we really like his offensive upside to add offence from the back end.”
Whiterabbit spent a week in Blackfalds this spring before deciding to join the Bulldogs. “I had a great time when I came up for a week’s visit this spring, and I felt that the coaching and organization were the best fit for me to develop to my full potential on and off the ice,” he said.
The signing is the latest in a busy off-season for the Bulldogs as they build their roster. The team also recently added forward Blake Kiley-Ram on May 15 and forward John Kartsonakis on May 27. The Bulldogs play in the BCHL’s Interior East Division and call the Eagle Builders Centre home.
The BCHL regular season typically begins in September, giving Whiterabbit and the rest of the team time to prepare for the year ahead.
