Beausejour RCMP are warning residents to stay vigilant after a series of linked thefts across several rural Manitoba communities on June 17, 2026. The incidents, which occurred in Selkirk, Oakbank, Beausejour, and Lac du Bonnet, involved vehicle thefts, thefts from unlocked parked vehicles, and fuel thefts. Suspects were seen using a black 2015 Ram and a newer grey GMC truck, both of which may have been stolen.
On June 18, police urged the public to report anything out of the ordinary as they investigate whether a suspicious person seen in the area is connected to the earlier crimes. However, details of that sighting remain unconfirmed.
Beausejour RCMP had already warned people in the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead on June 17 that thieves were targeting unlocked cars using those same trucks. Now, police are stepping up their efforts and asking folks to lock their vehicles and call in anything suspicious right away.
This comes as the local RCMP detachment recently launched a new tool to keep residents in the loop. Since May 21, 2026, Beausejour and Oakbank have been part of a pilot project using a system called Rave Mobile Safety. People who sign up can get direct safety alerts by text, email, or phone, which could be a big help during situations like this. The service is voluntary, and residents are encouraged to register to receive timely updates from police.
Anyone who spots unusual activity is asked to call Beausejour RCMP at 204-268-1234 for non-emergencies, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477. Police say even small details can make a difference as they work to track down whoever is behind these incidents and keep the community safe.
