K9 Advocacy Manitoba is asking for help to bring three puppies from Arviat, Nunavut to its rescue. The total flight cost comes to $431.72.
The charity posted on Instagram recently that the puppies are making the trip from the remote fly-in community and that it is looking for sponsors to cover the airfare.
Donations can be made through the group’s CanadaHelps page. To make sure a gift goes toward this trip, donors should write “Arviat Flight” in the message field.
K9 Advocacy Manitoba is a volunteer-run registered charity that rescues dogs and cats from communities with few animal services. It is based in Winnipeg and was started in 2015 by First Nations nurse Jasmine Colucci. Each year it brings in roughly 3,000 animals from more than 30 places across Manitoba and Nunavut.
The group does not have its own building. It relies entirely on foster homes to care for animals until they can be moved to partner rescues for adoption.
The charity got official status from the Canada Revenue Agency in November 2023, letting it give tax receipts for donations.
