The Bonnyville and District Chamber of Commerce is now taking applications for its Future Business Builders Scholarship Program, with a November 30, 2026 deadline. The scholarship gives up to $1,000 to Chamber members, their employees, and their children who are pursuing skilled trades education or recognized workforce training in Alberta.
The program has two streams. Stream A is for people who are registered or accepted at an accredited trade school in Alberta. Stream B is for those enrolled in recognized training programs that provide a certificate of completion, such as leadership development, safety certifications, or other upskilling courses. Applicants need to submit a 500-word essay about their career goals and how education helps their personal and community development. They also need one recommendation letter from an employer, educator, or community leader.
Funding for the scholarships comes from Chamber fundraising. Thirty percent of money raised through the Annual Golf Tournament goes to the program, along with 25 percent from Chamber Trips. The Chamber, formed in 1948, is one of Alberta’s longest-standing business groups, and it has a long history of supporting workforce development in the region.
This year’s previous recipients were Shemar Hutson, Elizabeth Rae, and Drew Dutertre. The Chamber encourages eligible residents connected to a Chamber member business to apply before the November 30 deadline. Application details are on the Chamber’s website.
