The Blackfalds Bulldogs have added three new faces to the club this off-season, signing two Swedish forwards and hiring a new broadcaster. The moves come as the junior hockey team gears up for the 2026-27 season, which opens at home on September 18, 2026 against the Brooks Bandits.
Forward Leon Bjelkelov Brunn joined the Bulldogs on July 24. The forward from Sweden, who turns 20 in August, was part of a championship team with Djurgårdens IF U20, and Bulldogs Director of Player Personnel Al Parada said he is eager to see Brunn in action. “I am looking forward to seeing Leon in a Bulldogs jersey when we open the BCHL season September 18th in Blackfalds vs Brooks,” Parada said.
On July 15, the team also signed Tim-Kristian Lukkarinen, a 19-year-old forward who captained Södertälje SK U20 for the past two seasons. Standing 6’3″ and weighing 209 pounds, Lukkarinen scored 8 goals and added 7 assists in 34 games last year.
In addition to the player signings, the Bulldogs hired Kaghlen Roberts as Broadcaster & Digital Media Coordinator on July 23. An Alberta native, Roberts previously worked with the Ottawa Junior Canadians and, according to the team, commentated the 2024 Centennial Cup.
The Bulldogs play out of the Eagle Builders Centre in Blackfalds, Alberta, and are part of the British Columbia Hockey League. Season tickets for the upcoming campaign are available now, with passes valid from September 16, 2026 through April 15, 2027, covering all regular season home games plus any potential home playoff contests. Prices range from $212.28 to $1,660.69.
