The Town of Blackfalds officially adopted a new five-year plan during its regular council meeting on April 28, 2026, setting the course for municipal decision-making and project funding through 2030. The document will serve as a roadmap for the community, guiding how the town manages resources and services over the next half-decade.
To help shape the vision for the future, the council worked with consultant Tracey Lorenson of Civic Excellence and Paragon Strategic Services. The development of this plan cost $12,000, a figure that was already accounted for within the town’s existing operating budget.
The new strategy identifies four main priorities that will influence upcoming town initiatives: economic vitality and community prosperity, community life safety and inclusion, leadership engagement and advocacy, and sustainable services and infrastructure. These goals are intended to ensure the town continues to provide stable services while addressing the needs of its residents.
With the plan now officially adopted, the municipality will use these priorities to measure its performance and inform its decision-making processes. Town officials will follow these guidelines to manage projects and allocate funding to ensure the community remains a place residents are proud to call home.
