Raffle tickets are now on sale for Blackfalds’ second annual Chairs for Charity fundraiser, with proceeds once again going to local food programs. The Town of Blackfalds is running the event, which invites businesses and organizations to paint and customize Adirondack chairs that are displayed around town and later raffled off. Tickets are $5 each, cash only, and can be bought at participating businesses until June 30, 2026.
The chairs are on view throughout June, including during Blackfalds Days. Tickets will also be available at the Blackfalds Days Market on Saturday, June 20 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Civic Center parking lot. The grand prize draw happens at 11 a.m. on July 10 at the Civic Cultural Centre, 5018 Waghorn Street.
The 2025 event raised $4,905 for the Beyond Food Community Hub and the Blackfalds Food Bank. Organizers say the need for food assistance has grown in the fast-rising community, which hit 12,258 residents in 2025. The Beyond Food Community Hub runs emergency food hampers, lunch box programs, and even a pet food bank. The Heart of Blackfalds Society was the top seller in 2025, bringing in $915, while Blackfalds Physiotherapy’s Mountain/Bear chair drew 128 tickets.
The raffle is licensed by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis, with a total ticket value of $12,500. Each chair has a retail value of $140. All money raised goes to the charity.
