A new outdoor recreation business, Take A Hike Adventures Alberta Ltd., has launched in Blackfalds, offering residents and visitors guided nature tours throughout David Thompson Country.
The company provides guided hiking experiences designed to help people explore local landscapes. The business is now listed with Tourism Red Deer, the regional organization that supports tourism across Central Alberta.
The arrival of this new service comes as the community continues to grow. Blackfalds residents already have access to an extensive trail system that connects to the Trans Canada Trail. This includes the Abbey Centre, which remains the only facility in Canada to host an indoor section of the trail.
The new business enters the market during a period of strong growth for tourism in the province. According to Travel Alberta, the provincial tourism sector reached a record $15.2 billion in visitor spending in 2025. Furthermore, the broader outdoor recreation economy on provincial crown land contributes approximately $2.3 billion in annual spending.
To support this interest in outdoor activities, the Government of Alberta has committed $275 million over three years to improve sustainable infrastructure, such as trails and campsites across the province.
