Families in Bonnyville have a lineup of free activities at the Bonnyville and District Centennial Centre from June 26 to July 2, 2026, while the facility itself will be closed on Canada Day. The C2 is offering free movies, open climbing sessions, and a fitness class for older adults in the days leading up to the holiday.
Movies are showing in the Alstar Movie Theatre, with Aquaman on June 26 from 1 to 3 p.m., Barbie the same evening from 7 to 9 p.m., Scoob! and The Return on June 27, and The Jungle Bunch on June 28. No tickets are needed for these screenings, which are sponsored by the Alstar Group, a Western Canadian construction company.
The Federation Construction Climbing Wall will be open for free drop-in climbing on June 27 from 12 to 4 p.m. and again on July 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. (note: the C2 homepage states the facility will be closed on Canada Day; confirm the July 1 climb directly with the C2 Welcome Desk at 780-812-3400). Equipment is provided, and no registration is required. The climbing program is supported by Federation Construction, a Bonnyville-based company.
For older adults, a StrongerU fitness class runs on June 30 from 2:45 to 3:15 p.m. in the Fitness Studio. Instructor Lori leads the low-impact session, which focuses on building strength, balance, and flexibility through resistance training and stretching. Another class is scheduled for July 2.
The C2 will be closed on July 1 for Canada Day, but the town has its own celebrations planned, including a parade down Main Street at 3 p.m. and a Party in the Park at Little Leap Park starting at 5 p.m., with food trucks, live music, and fireworks at dusk.
