Kids in Stonewall, Manitoba, will get a hands-on chance to climb inside massive machines, honk horns, and meet the people who drive them when the annual Touch a Truck event rolls into town Saturday, June 13, 2026. The Stonewall Children’s Centre is hosting the free family day at the Stonewall Agricultural Grounds starting at 10:00 AM.
The event brings together vehicles from emergency services, construction, utilities, and other businesses all in one place. Fire trucks, police cruisers, dump trucks, and heavy machinery are parked with their doors open so children can explore, sit in the driver’s seat, and ask questions. Organizers describe it as one of Manitoba’s biggest touch-a-truck gatherings, and it has drawn families from across the region in previous years.
The Stonewall Children’s Centre, a registered charity and child care provider located at 528 3rd St W, has put on the event for several years. Attendees say they’ve come back year after year, and the event has grown into a staple on the local calendar. The centre offers infant and preschool programs and runs the touch-a-truck day as a community-focused activity that lets kids connect with the equipment they often see on the road or in the fields around town.
The Agricultural Grounds, located roughly a mile south of Stonewall at the corner of Highway 236, provide plenty of space for the large vehicles and the crowds they attract. Stonewall itself, a community of about 5,000 residents about 25 kilometres north of Winnipeg, is well known for its limestone quarries and family-oriented events like the annual Quarry Days festival. Touch a Truck extends that tradition by giving children a safe, supervised environment to satisfy their curiosity about big rigs.
Families are encouraged to arrive early, as the event runs through the day and typically draws a steady stream of visitors. No registration is needed, and the hands-on format means kids are allowed to touch, climb, and even test the horns under guidance from the vehicle operators.
