The Summerside Arts Fest is back for 2026, bringing over a month of city-wide creative events to the community starting May 31 and running through July 4. This year’s festival, listed as a Signature Event by Tourism PEI, is the longest-running edition yet and promises to turn neighbourhoods, gathering spots and community hubs into vibrant showcases for local talent.

Organized by Wyatt Heritage Properties Inc. in partnership with the City of Summerside, the festival has grown from a smaller site-specific event into a city-wide celebration. Councillor Nick Cameron, who speaks on behalf of the festival, said the aim is to capture Summerside’s creative energy while giving people of all ages a chance to take part.

Mayor Dan Kutcher highlighted the role of community-based cultural events in building a sense of belonging. “Summerside is a city that values creativity, connection, and community pride,” he said. “The Summerside Arts Fest is a perfect example of how we can celebrate local talent while inviting residents and visitors alike to get involved.”

A key highlight is the special edition of the Summerside Farmers’ Market and Art Alley on July 4, running from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Spring Street between the Holman Building and Jewellery Plus. More than 60 artists and artisans will rotate through the outdoor market space, giving visitors a chance to meet creators and purchase one-of-a-kind work.

Other festival events include the ArtLove Live Painting Competition on opening day, the Draw of Art magnetic art installations placed city-wide from June 8 to July 4, and a live mural painting with artist Kiele Poirier from June 16 to 20 at Art Buds Gallery. National Indigenous Peoples Day will also be marked with a special event on June 21, and the final weekend features Classic Car Nights plus Art Alley on July 3 before the big market finale.

The festival is supported by funding from the Government of Canada, Innovation PEI, and the City of Summerside. Wyatt Heritage Properties Inc., a separate entity from the city that manages heritage sites including the 1867 Lefurgey Cultural Centre, leads the programming.
